I realised that I haven’t joined in with the Six on Saturday meme for a while so hello fellow gardeners! We enjoyed lots of rain yesterday which was fabulous for the garden but not so good for my building site! Lots of new mud to contend with! Anyway, here are my six for this week.
1. Buddleja Futterby Pink
This is one of a couple of new Buddleja for the Old House garden that we planted around the new pond created in April. All my Buddleja have flowered continuously since early July and are gorgeous. They are always covered in bees, butterflies and other insects so they are perfect for encouraging wildlife. They do grow rather large so be careful if you have a small plot as they may take over.
2. Oxalis Tetraphylla or’ as I call it, “lucky clover!”
This pops up every year and dies back to nothing. I really like it as the leaves are so green and varied. The flowers are a deep pink.
3. Outdoor tomatoes
The outdoor tomatoes have done so much better than the indoor ones (no surprises really due to the hot weather). We have so many, I’ve been sharing them with neighbours. My favourites are definately the cherry, yellow ones (not in the pictures) so we shall definately grow those again.
4. Pink Dahlias
I love pink and these Dahlias are really pretty. They give such gorgeous blooms! I think they are my favourite flowers in the Old House garden at the moment. The only problem is the slugs love them so after last nights rain, one of the two plants has been eaten rather a lot!
5. Chillies and Peppers
Its been a bumper year for chillies and peppers but as Monty said last night, I need to harvest these now! I think my Hubbie is going to make some chilli sauce with these beauties!
6. The come back kid
This Fuschia used to be near the house and it had to be moved due to the renovations. We potted it up so that I had more time to decide where to put it. It then died, or so I thought! Look at it! I’m really pleased it’s survived and is now flourishing. It’s still in its pot so it shall stay there for a while as it obviously loves it!
Thats my 6! Have a great weekend in the garden!
