This weekend is when the amazing Plant Nursey at West Kington opens their doors to the public to sell lots of amazing plants at amazing prices. I love this Nursery, so always go to their twice a year open days to snap up some bargains! I thought for this week’s Six in Saturday I would show you what I managed to buy this morning and where I plan to put it!
1. Stacey’s Byzantine ‘Silver Carpet’(lambs ears)
I plan to put these in between my roses in the Rose garden that we created last summer. I have bought 9 plants so I’m going to intersperse these with the other plants I have bought.
2 & 3. Echinacea ‘green jewel’ and Echinacea ‘coconut lime.’
I haven’t got any Echinacea in the Old House garden so I thought it was about time I did! Of course, there were loads of varieties at the plant sale as this is the time of year that they look their best. I choose some lime and white varieties to contrast against my pink roses. I also wanted some perennial, white foxgloves but they didn’t have any so I will try to buy these and put them in the Spring. The Rose garden will then be finished.
4. Hydrandea paniculata ‘sundae fraise’
I wasn’t looking for another Hydrangea but saw this one and thought I had to have it! Such a pretty variety which will look beautiful in my hydrangea border near the Magnolia.
5. Cotinus coggygria ‘royal purple’ (smoke bush)
I love these plants as they turn to a beautiful orange in Autumn. This may have been a slightly stupid purchase though as they grow to be huge shrubs -8 foot by 8 foot -so I’m going to have to find a place for this! I’m not sure where just yet to be honest!
6. Tiger, my cat!
I didn’t see Tiger this morning and found her curled up like this! She’s a funny, old cat who likes to sleep usually in the Greenhouse.
There is my Six for this week. Happy gardening everyone!
