I thought I’d share some recent photographs from the Old House decorated for Christmas. Don’t you just love traditional decorations in your home? To me, this usually means lots of red, green and gold.
In the Sitting Room
I especially love my sitting room in the winter as it’s cosy, dark and inviting. As I’ve painted the walls in a dark colour, the stone mantel looks amazing dressed for Christmas with dark, green foliage with red decorations to match my red cushions. The red berries contrast against the gold of the mirror. I’ve added two, red, textured candles and cute little animals/Santa. I also love the new chandelier reflecting in the mercury glass of the mirror.
In the Dining Room
We always used to have a real tree but a few years ago bought this lovely, symmetrical artificial tree in a sale. We have never looked back! I thought about getting a real tree again this year, but they are cut so early these days that they drop their needles early too!
The Christmas Table
We have twelve for Christmas this year so Hubbie will have to cut me a piece of MDF to cover the table as he did last year! This means we can just about squeeze around my old, pine table! I’d hoped we’d have our new kitchen by now but, there you have it! We hope to carry on with renovations in the Spring so I may have a new kitchen by next year! In the mean time, I have been dressing the table set for six to see what it will look like and I’m very pleased with it. What do you think?
Hopefully, Santa may bring me some for Christmas! Happy Christmas everyone! I hope you enjoy a happy, festive time with your families.
What colours do you use to decorate your house at Christmas?
