Hello everyone! I’m a little late with my Six on Saturday post as I’ve been outside in the garden before the rain comes in later. Apparently, we are due Storm Freya later tomorrow but I’m really hoping that it misses us here in Wiltshire as it has a yellow warning for high winds.
March garden jobs
Today I’ve been tidying up my ‘cottage border’ as I call it and adding manure and compost to certain plants. It’s the largest border we have and it is where I’ve got lots of lupins. Lupins don’t like soil that is too rich so I tend to leave them to do their thing but there are other plants in there that like manure. Then I’ve done a spot of weeding, checked the baby plants in the Greenhouse and swept up of all the catkins that were all over my path. General bits and bobs that needed doing. I’ve been back at work this week watching the beautiful weather from inside so it’s been good to get out into the garden and take stock.
Last Sunday, I made a mistake and planted most of my Dahlia tubers. I was seduced by all the lovely sunny weather I think! I then had a mini meltdown in the night as I could see that we were going to get some frost! Hubbie had to go out and over the border with carpet and plastic to protect them! We had 3 frosts this week so I was stupid to plant them. Never mind, we live and learn. I just hope they survive.
Anyway, enough rambling! On to my 6 for this week:
3. Euphorbia or Wood Spurge
4. Busy frogs!
5. Euphorbia amygdaloides purpurea (I think!)
There is my 6. If you would like to join in then head over to The Propagator. It’s a community of gardeners to chat to and take a look into their gardens too.
