Spring is here.
With the official first day of Spring on March 20th, I have noticed that the garden is growing quickly now. The weather has been horrendous all week however with Storm Gareth making himself known! The lawn is covered with lots of debris from the surrounding trees from all the windy weather. In the past couple of weeks I have weeded and mulched the borders, added manure to the beds and sown some of the annuals I am planning for this year. The new raised bed has been filled with homemade compost ready for whatever we decide to plant in it.
I hope you enjoy my Six for this Saturday. If you would like to join in, head over to The Propagator blog.
After seeing all the beautiful Hellebores in everyone’s gardens, I decided to treat myself with this pretty purple one.
2. School Sweet Peas
I planted the sweet peas with my class yesterday into old milk cartons. These were the seeds we planted in January.
3. Pretty in pink!
I managed to buy three pretty primulas last Sunday at B&Q and I particularly love this pink one. It looks like a bridal bouquet don’t you think?
4. Purple primrose
This is another of the three primroses I bought from B&Q. They look great in my Spring border.
5. The new raised bed
I love the new raised bed that we built at half term on the right of the photo above. Any suggestions of what to plant in this bed? This bed is a little shaded for a cut flower bed which was my original plan. Perhaps strawberries and gooseberries? There are already raspberries in the T section.
6. New growth
There has been lots of new growth in the Old House garden in the last few weeks. The tree peony buds have suddenly sprung open to reveal tiny yet perfectly formed leaves.
That’s it folks. I’m looking forward to reading all your lovely garden posts.

If you are wondering what is happening with The Old House, we are waiting for the Oak Frame at the moment. This had to be redesigned to fit the space and roof design (or something!) Once the weather improves, we will also start the side extension. I will write a post as soon as I have any news.
