Six on Saturday: It’s all about a little touch of sunshine!

Hello everyone and I’m a little late with my Six on Saturday but we have been ultra busy today. We have visited RHS Cardiff this morning, had lunch at Tredegar House on our way home, had a quick look at the house and gardens and then home for some gardening in this glorious sunshine! It’s been 17 degrees this afternoon in Wiltshire so we felt energised to get in the garden for the last few hours of the afternoon.

If you are unfamiliar with the meme, Six on Saturday, take a look at The Propagator Blog for the participant guide.

Six on Saturday: Spring is here!

Here are my Six on Saturday and finally, Spring is here! We have enjoyed some Spring sunshine this week after such a cold spell. The garden is waking quickly now and you can see the growth each day. I have been busy weeding, mulching and sowing seeds this week. It’s been a busy time as we have also finished the wildlife pond.

If you would like to join in with this weekly meme started over at The Propagator, take a look here.

Creating a Wildlife Pond in the Old House Garden

We started this project in February when we decided to move the Building that the cats slept in! Honestly, that was all the little house was used for! It also took up room and light so a new area was in order! The old pond liner has degraded so much it is full of holes so we decided to create a wildlife pond in this space. What we hadn’t expected was the cold and snowy weather we had in March which really put our plans behind. However, this Easter we have finished the wildlife pond and it looks fabulous!

#MyGloriousGardens March Round up post: Hurry up Spring!

Welcome to the March Round up Post! I can’t believe it is almost Easter and the end of March already. The beautiful photo of the Fritillaria was taken Easter 2017 in the old house garden. I really hope this cold rain goes away soon!

We had 20 link ups this month which is absolutely fabulous! We also had a winner for the competition and that was Joshua from 30daysofwildparenting.  Well done Joshua! Your prizes are on their way already!

Oh! How the Old House Garden has changed!

When I went self hosted a few weeks ago, none of my photographs transferred so I have been systematically going through each post and making sure the photographs are in the places I want them to be. This is an ongoing process and it will get done but actually, it’s a good thing because I can review each post in turn. I have been enjoying looking at photographs of the changes we have made in the garden and thought a review post was in order!

Choosing a New Shed for the Old House Garden.

We already have a shed; it was left in the Old House garden by the previous owners. In fact, it is every Gardener’s dream shed because it was left FULL UP with garden tools, gadgets, 2 mowers and an old fashioned lawn roller! However, hubbie has more gadgets, tools and thingyme bobs in the garage and house; you name it, he has it. He is the gadget king when it comes to DIY and gardening! As the garage is coming down in a month’s time to make way for a new garage and extension, he needed a place to put these too.
A new shed was in order!

I’m proud to call myself a Mindful Gardener.

I didn’t know that I had missed my time in the garden so much until this weekend. Was it the return of Monty in Gardeners World? Was it the fact that we finally managed to get a spade in the ground after all the freezing weather? Was it the appearance of the early Spring flowers?

No. I realised that I had been missing my mindful moments for I am proud to call myself a Mindful Gardener!
